THEATER GUILD DONORS
Make an Investment in Artistic Excellence in Santa Cruz County! Only your donations can help keep Cabrillo Stage the
"must-see event of the summer season."
As we move onward into an exciting, but uncertain future, Cabrillo Stage has continued to press on, keeping abreast of any and all developments in theatre technology and safety, as we plan our return to performing.
ACT 1 of our return included producing and presenting 14 Episodes of our hit series, The Stars of Cabrillo Stage, where we interview your favorite stars and took a look back at many of our past productions. The Stars of Cabrillo Stage is available to all and can be found at our "Stars Of Cabrillo Stage" page.
ACT 2 Cabrillo Stage’s 2021 Festival Season, will be different than any we’ve offered before. We will begin December 27th with the archive recording of the World Premiere of Joe Ortiz’s autobiographical musical, Escaping Queens. Then, in the Spring we will continue offering episodes and archived productions while preparing a safe and responsible return to the theater this summer.
The expenses of a cancelled season was a financial blow to Cabrillo Stage. But thanks to your help, support from Cabrillo College, and a history of prudent budgeting, we have always remained in the black and maintained a reserve of seed money for one more show! As you think about your end of year charitable donations, I hope you’ll consider a donation gift to Cabrillo Stage. donor benefits are listed below. On behalf of the 39th season’s cast and crew, we look forward to seeing you Online and Live… ”On Broadway”!
Sincerely, Jon Nordgren, Artistic Director

ESCAPING QUEENS
Joe Ortiz's musical memoir, Escaping Queens, takes place in the shadow of the Queensboro Bridge. This funny, edgy, ultimately hopeful story, centers around an Italian/Puerto Rican family trying to escape the chaos and poverty of New York housing-project life.
Mama rules the home with a nurturing wooden spoon but cannot control her charismatic, gambling husband. Sooner or later something has to give—and it does. The production’s original music draws on the same richness of traditions that the family itself does: Latin beats, Sicilian ballads, doo-wop numbers on the street corner and radio hits reminiscent of 1950s era New York.
It will be preceded by a pre-show discussion with the creators in Episode 14: The Stars Of Cabrillo Stage. WATCH NOW!
Due to Covid-19, all events will be planned with an eye to safety and well-being of guests and staff. All events are subject to change.
