THEATER GUILD DONORS

Make an Investment in Artistic Excellence in Santa Cruz County! Only your donations can help keep Cabrillo Stage the
"must-see event of the summer season."

Like the Phoenix, rising from the ashes, we will ride our online episodes of the Stars of Cabrillo Stage onto a grand outdoor stage; a Live Summer Festival like nothing you’ve ever seen before! And like nothing we’ve ever done before! The Stars of Cabrillo Stage is a 5 Act, 5 week, Summer Musical Theatre Festival that celebrates our return to the stage. Each July weekend offers a different spectacular performance.

ACT 1 - The Cabrillo Stage Big Band featuring the Stars of Cabrillo Stage! – July 2-4

We begin with a Big Band Jazz welcome back dance party. Enjoy the sounds of the Cabrillo Stage Big Band with Andrew Ceglio and me, as we travel back to the Swing Era in an early dance set followed by a parade of Stars reliving our favorite Broadway tunes and performances.

ACT 2 – Circus – Knives, Blood, and Water – July 9-11

Joe Ortiz and Greg Fritsch are at it again with a brand new musical score. Follow the rollercoaster twists and turns of a backstage story that reveals secrets long hidden, by the Circus…

ACT 3 – The Cabrillo Stage Orchestra featuring the Stars of Cabrillo Stage in a Star Studded Tribute to Lile Cruse – July 16-18

Enjoy a night in the Pit!...as I elevate an All-star group of Cabrillo Stage Pit Musicians to the spotlight with our Stars of Cabrillo Stage performing classic Broadway tunes. Hosted by Andrew Ceglio, the finale will feature a “Battle of the Bands” and a Seasons of Love tribute dedicated to our founder, Lile Cruse.

ACT 4 – Tomfoolery – July 23-25

Andrew Ceglio and Mickey McGushin team up to bring us this classic review of the music of Tom Lehrer. A Harvard educated math professor at UCSC and beloved local character, Tom wrote a wonderfully hilarious tome of satirical songs in the 50 & 60’s that take on every subject from The Table of Chemicals to the Vatican; A-Bombs to current controversial subjects like Race and Pollution. Irreverent, and some say, even wicked, Tom’s music will have you rolling in the aisles as we discover just how silly we all are.

ACT 5 – Pirates of Penzance – July 30-Aug 1

The most popular Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera, a classic….and a classic Choral Director….what could be better? Cabrillo’s own, Cheryl Anderson joins Cabrillo Stage to present this beloved farce with pit orchestra and full ensemble cast.

A one-time event and the climax to our Summer Festival!

It has been a difficult year for all of us, but we are ready to dance and sing again! Everyone needs a time to get out and move Onward! This July, join us in the newly-renovated Cabrillo College Amphitheater, for a safe and joyful Broadway experience this Summer.

Sincerely, Jon Nordgren, Artistic Director
